Hi Wade and Peggy, I am just getting things together and wonder whether I need to add my bathing suit to the back pack? I was told there were some hot springs nearby. Anything else to add that I might not think of? Looking forward with gusto to brisk hikes and cool nights!

Hiking

Coming via WestJet, Kate and I won't have bikes with us, so we're planning to hike a lot (and sit and read a little) ... we won't be joining those of you cycling this time.

I see a great selection of hikes in the immediate vicinity of Jasper: Old Fort Point, Lac Beauvert, Lake Annette, Lake Edith, Edith Cavell MeadowsMaligne Canyon, Pyramid & Athabasca Overlook, Valley of the Five Lakes, Wabasso Lake to Skyline Trail, Cottonwood Slough, Vine CreekJasper's Horseshoe Lake.

All I know about these hikes are in the pages above. Feel free to comment if you know about any of these hikes, or want to arrange to hike them together.

Food

My idea of food for the weekend is pretty simple:

  • Pickup groceries Friday/Saturday for breakfasts and lunches
  • Grab fast-food dinners enroute to/from Jasper on Friday/Monday
  • Meet up in Jasper for dinners out on Saturday and Sunday

I'm not dead-set on this plan ... pipe up if you have other ideas!

Welcome!

Welcome to the Jasper '016 blog. This is a private blog for those Stony Plain (and Shawnigan Lake) folks headed to Jasper for 20-23May2016. Anyone in our group can post/read/comment, and (if we're all in agreement) we'll change the blog from Private to Public once we all get home. So waaay in the future, to look back, all you have to remember is jasper016.blogspot.com.
